Welcome to another Campaign Update, keeping you informed of our constant fight to make things better for bunnies.
We went out and about this summer!
For several years, we have been asking large county shows, like the Great Yorkshire Show, to remove the typical rabbit display, which not only gives a totally wrong message to the many
thousands of visitors but also doesn’t meet the welfare needs of the rabbits involved. You
can imagine how delighted we were when the Great Yorkshire Show agreed to remove the old rabbit show this year and invited us to provide an educational setup and talks instead.
In June 2021, the Good Practice Code for the Welfare of Rabbits was launched, so it was time for it to be reviewed in 2023. There is more information about this here
There is now a new version of the Code and infographic, and also a handy ‘widget’ – all available for download from the site.
There was a recent situation on social media where we came under fire for our message on companionship and the studies we cited to back up our point that companionship is vital to rabbits and that they should not be kept alone.
