About us

Working to improve the lives of rabbits through education, advocacy, and welfare support.

Our ethos

Our whole ethos is about making sure rabbits enjoy a fulfilled and happy life. Educating owners on the best care, so their rabbits are living their best lives, today tomorrow and into the future is the reason we exist.
These pages are packed with expert advice, specialist information and thought provoking points to challenge your thinking. We’re passionate about what rabbits need, from the right medicine, diet and toys to the right care by the seasons. Guiding vets with tailored advice, supporting rescue centres and owners, as well as campaigning for change is all part of what we do.

Our mission
Ensuring all pet rabbits in the UK are cared for with understanding, insight and kindness.
Our vision
To be the recognised experts in making a positive difference to the wellbeing of all pet rabbits in the UK.

Our work

Over the years, we’ve been campaigning hard, working with vets and rescue centres, while educating owners to understand these animals better.
A trusted source of advice
As the leading authority, we're guiding rabbit owners to give their rabbits the lives they deserve. Our advice is from genuine experts, you can trust it.
Raising standards in retail
Responsible retailers and manufacturers are our allies. They are a pet owner’s first port of call. At Rabbit Welfare, we provide information, advice and resources to educate owners from day one. Raising standards is also incredibly important to make sure pet products promote rabbits’ behavioural and health needs.
Supporting rescue centres
We support the vital work done by rabbit rescue centres. We provide advice, resources, promote the "adopt don't shop" message, and even help to raise funds for them.
Raising standards of health care
In supporting vets and vet nurses we’ve created educational webinars, and become a go-to port of call for practitioners nationwide. Our goal is to help professionals advance their specialist knowledge of rabbits through the latest medicine and treatment.
Campaigning for change
We never tire of campaigning to highlight the plight of rabbits and raise awareness. We constantly write policies and lobby in Parliament and Whitehall. Our team also regularly support or conduct studies to promote improvements in rabbit health and welfare, for longer, better lives.

How do we work?

We behave as one organisation called the Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund or RWA&F. We’re UK-based and are a not-for-profit organisation. Any surplus funds go towards valuable welfare work.

The Rabbit Welfare Fund or RWF is our charity. We educate professionals and campaign using the funds generated. Plus, as a registered charity (#1167093), we’re eligible for Gift Aid.

Though the charity and the organisation are separate, we talk about them as one, using our group name, Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund.

A few legal details

  • The RWA&F is a Private Limited Company by guarantee without share capital. (#10044925)
  • The Rabbit Welfare Fund’s original charity registration details our accounts up to and including 2016.
  • Our more recent registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation is a better foundation for campaigning work and shows accounts from 2017 onwards.
