About us

The Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund is the largest organisation in the UK dedicated to improving the welfare of all companion rabbits. We are focused on advocacy that drives change. We are not just a membership; we are a movement.
  1. Campaigns like “A Hutch Is Not Enough” have reshaped public understanding of rabbit care, pushing for spacious, enriching environments.
  2. The RWA&F works to influence legislation, improve standards in pet retail, and support rescue centres during crises like the current rabbit abandonment surge.
  3. We support rescue and promote #adoptdontshop.
  4. We offer expert advice on diet, housing, behaviour, and veterinary care.
  5. We use science-backed welfare standards that promote the Five Welfare Needs under the Animal Welfare Act.
  6. We share the latest research (like on tonic immobility) to bust myths and promote ethical handling.
  7. We offer practical tools for owners—from housing guides to diet plans.
