How it works

RWAF veterinary practice members can apply to be assessed by our expert veterinary adviser, Dr John Chitty, where they can be awarded one of three levels:

Silver

Silver Plus

Gold

What you receive

Rabbit Friendly Practice logo for your marketing

A certificate with your overall score and module breakdown

A detailed report with feedback and scores for each module

You can also achieve higher levels in individual modules, allowing you to showcase specific areas of excellence.

This gives your practice something meaningful to show your clients, and the pledge certificate you get is a visible commitment to rabbit welfare and a promise to uphold high standards of care.

In addition to our standard application for general veterinary practices, we also offer tailored application processes for:

Out-of-Hours (OOH) Providers
Referral Practices

Each of these has its own set of standards and assessment criteria, focusing only on the modules relevant to the services they provide. This ensures that every type of practice, whether offering emergency care or specialist referrals, can be fairly assessed and recognised for its rabbit-friendly approach.

These applications follow the same principles as the general practice assessment, with clear standards for each level and a requirement for supporting evidence. Practices can be prepared in advance using the same online system and evidence checklist.

Once assessed, your practice will:

Be listed on our Rabbit Friendly Vet Directory
Receive a certificate and logo to display in your practice and online
Get a report with feedback and suggestions for improvement

Your listing is valid for four years, with a yearly check-in to confirm nothing has changed.

Each branch of your practice requires its own membership and application.

We know the application is a commitment, and we believe it should be! It’s on par with similar schemes for dog and cat-friendly practices. But we’re here to support you every step of the way.

The application is fully online, and you can save and return to it as often as needed. Just make sure to log in at least once every 30 days to keep it active.
